About Ron Holt
  • Ron runs Outdoor Education providing progressive navigational courses in and around the western edge of the Peak District National Park from his base in Higher Poynton, in Cheshire.
  • He holds both the Summer (MLS) and Winter (MLW) Mountain Leadership Certificates as well as the more prestigious International Mountain Leadership Award (IML) and Single Pitch Award (SPA) for rock climbing.
  • He has worked as an instructor for Outward Bound (Eskdale, Cumbria) and as a high altitude mountain guide for Jagged Globe (Sheffield) leading expeditions to Africa, South America and the Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan Himalaya.
  • He has summited 6000m, 7000m and 8000m peaks in and around the world, and has climbed and skied in the European Alps with ascents of Mont Blanc and Mont Maudit.
  • He is a qualified teacher, author and Duke of Edinburgh Award Assessor and has been involved in organising and running DoE courses for over 20 years
  • Having been an avid rock climber and mountain/road marathon runner Ron is now more likely to be found scrambling around on Windgather rocks and jogging about in Lyme Park.
